NHS v Private

I am keen that everyone receives the NHS rehabilitation they are entitled to. I would encourage you to explore this option too.

The decision to employ an independent neurophysiotherapist is often made if there is a lack of, or delay in NHS therapy following discharge from hospital, or the intensity of therapy that NHS services can offer is insufficient (based on available resources) for you to make progress. Given the research on neuroplasticity* it is essential to get in lots of practice. If you are receiving some NHS physiotherapy but don’t think this is enough, I am happy to liaise with the NHS physiotherapist to work jointly on your goals.

An NHS physiotherapist should not withdraw treatment if you decide to employ an independent neurophysiotherapist to supplement what you are receiving - you are entitled to both.

*neuroplasticity is the brains ability to change and reorganise in response to learning a new cognitive or physical skill.
